Eat Right and Enjoy Your July 4 Holiday!

Enjoy your July 4 parties and barbeques tomorrow and through this weekend … but make sure you know what you’re putting in your mouth. I came across this great graphic that spells out the best choices from a nutrition and healthy-eating standpoint. Don’t get too hung up on trying to eat perfectly today, but do make sure you don’t undo all the good choices you have been making on non-holidays!

  1. What the heck kind of hamburger patty is that with 426 calories of meat/fat alone? Certainly not any kind I make or buy. That said, good thoughts about eating attentively and not simply binging.

    • You never know, we live in a super-sized world, and the quality of meat makes a difference, too. Personally, on the rare occasion I actually eat a hamburger, I can usually only eat about half of it.

  2. Plus… How many people eat two or three of those hot dogs with all that stuff on them? Most people also cannot eat just one piece of that apple pie, and when it comes to glasses of soda or beer… Yikes!

    I am with YOU, Sarah, No need to eat like a crazy person, just because it’s a holiday. Love your blog, your writing, and your message! Keep up the awesome work!

    • I know, seriously – most of that stuff just sounds disgusting. In all honesty, one day won’t kill you (hopefully) … but is it worth potentially feeling like crap after the fact, and the extra work you’ll have to do to make up for it? Not in my mind.
